Policy on Advertising and Infotising on this Social Network

We're starting to see some link dropping again and confused members so this needs to be reposted... - D

Hello all;
Just a quick note because of all the complaints and problems we have had from people trying to advertise and infotise on the Morgellons Support Network site, I have come up with a new policy and want to get everyone's feedback on it.

First: The banner ads on the right side column of the site are only there to support the operational expense of the site. They do not reflect (nor do I endorse) any of the links products or offers shown in those ads. They are displayed by an ad network and are not under my control. Please click them if you like them or ignore them if you don;t.

Now about all the spam and advertising and link dropping inside posts and forums and blogs....

This is the real problem. Ads that have nothing to do with our affliction are bad enough and I will kill them as soon as I see them or as soon as any member lets me know. But there is another issue recently raised by a member and I want to present that issue and a possible solution to it.

There are many members here who have been suffering and surviving the crawl for years and some of them have developed solutions or products in order to treat or relieve the misery. (We ALL KNOW THERE IS NO CURE!!!!)

But that does not mean that there are not some good products or recipies or other info out there that could help us all (God knows I've read every word on Rense's site a dozen times LOL).

So how can we be a real support site if we do not allow any kinds of links or information that might be considered advertising simply because it involves the sale of a service or product? Here's How!

I am making a whole section of the website called 'Resources'. Members will NOT be able to post to this section however, if they send me their information I will make a place for it -- yes including a link -- so members can browse this section to get ideas and links to get help.

This does not mean we will endorse these resources -- too many treatments don't work for many of us or have such limited effect they are not worth buying, but they do still help some folks.

So please think about this and post your feedback as comments to this blog. I want to know what you guys think. If we do it this way you will only have to look at advertising type information if you decide to go look -- meanwhile it will not pollute the site.

All together now.... PUSH!

Hi Sherry;
All you need to do is click the "Resources" link in the top menu. So far we only have one company that has sent anything. The offer has been open for at least 6 months. Again all they have to do is become a member, then send me the information they want to post about their product or service and we'll post it to the page.
We've had plenty try to spam, but no one else has followed the rules.

I wish I could be more helpful. Maybe I should just post stuff for them but then I never know if what I would write would represent them properly.

Stay healthy my friend;
Dwayne

Great Idea! I look forward to reading all the helpful stuff in one place.I am fairly new and do not know
about the Rense's site as you put it so if you could add it to the Resource's area that would be great!!
Thanks for this site. I think that the support of comradery(I dont know if I spelled it right) is extremely important when dealing with the stress of parasiteson any level! Thanks Dwayne!

Gordon;
Both of the situations you just described are perfectly acceptable and no one would have a problem with that type of resource. If you have a good home remedy using off the shelf product you can snag anywhere then yes by all means contribute.
Also links to other sites are fine as long as the contribute to the resources to help everyone.

Where just trying to keep out the blatant spammers and link droppers.

Peace;

Dwayne

I think you are on the right track.

Would you clarify a couple of situations that aren't quite clear to me?

What if we want to provide simple home grown recipes that consist either of household names ( like Arm & Hammer or Simple Green ) ?

What about links to sites that don't sell anything?

oh, ok so if we have come up with something we think works we post to you?
or are you referring to say for example you are taking the Logos protocol and you like it..saying.."check out this site" for products used by some people with "M".
i think it could be beneficial to have resources in one site..it's just sometimes things come up spontaniously in conversation..I guess there will always be gray areas. Good to not have the deart and diabetis adds though..even though some people who have "M" may have those things too. And..I can't believe they are all Canadian..they are using the name because they think people trust it...makes me mad..if they are, I apologize on behalf of all Canadians Sincerely, Sherry

Dwayne,
I think that is a great solution. Yes, many Morgies have come up with treatment steps that are helpful,and worth reading about.But your plan makes it our choice, at our discretion.Good idea!!
